Yin yoga is a slower paced practice. Postures are mostly done sitting or laying down and are held for at least three minutes. This passive stretching works to loosen the myofascia and strengthen the joints. It is a good counter to yang (active) activities like running, dancing. and even sneakily active things like sitting in a chair.
Ecstatic yoga is Gloria and mine's word for an out of the box yoga class, inspired by my trip to the Big Island of Hawaii and the ecstatic dances held at Kalani and the Garden Temple, and also inspired by Kundalini Yoga. An ecstatic dance is spontaneous movement alongside music. Classes begin with pranayama and a bit of flow, leading into the ecstatic dance, and finishing with a bit of yin. I hope you'll come join us!
